What does the word walling mean? Wailing means to utter a prolonged, inarticulate, mournful cry, usually high-pitched or clear-sounding, as in grief or suffering (www.dictionary.com).

Jeremiah 9 speaks about the wailing women. The Bible lets us know that Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet. He continually sends up prayers and supplication for the people’s sins and the pending judgment.

Jeremiah 9:1 says, “Oh that my head waters, in my eye’s fountains of tears, that I might weep day and night well the slain of the daughters of my people.”

The expositor’s study Bible quotes how he wept for good reasons! After seeing the destruction from being disobedient to God coming upon the people.

The children of Israel were so rebellious that they desired to kill the prophet of God for speaking the truth. If it had not been for the Lord, they probably would’ve succeeded, but God saw fit to protect His prophet. They did not want to hear about the destruction coming from following and worshipping other gods.

The Israelites were deep in sin, and they turned a deaf ear to what God was saying through Jeremiah. They bend their tongues like a bow, just telling all types of lies that they can think of. They were far from wanting to hear the truth, and so they continued to do evil in the eyes of God.

Nothing the prophet said mattered to them and it got to the point where Jeremiah wanted to run away from such rebellious people. But he realized that he was the watchman standing in the gap. He acted as an intercessor prayer, mediator between God and man. The more he preached, the more they rebelled. Their hearts were far from knowing and serving God. They enjoy backsliding, being deceivers, partying, drinking, and fornicating. They must have thought that their sins would go unpunished.

God asked Jeremiah, “Shall I not visit them for these things? Shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? The Lord was so angry at their disobedience that He punished them by allowing the Babylonians to keep them in bondage for 70 years. Our Abba Father made their city desolate and a den of dragons because they refused to honor and respect the plans God had for their lives.  Therefore it is dangerous to rebel and disobey the will of God.

11 And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.

12 Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the Lord hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through? (Jeremiah 9:11-12 KJV).

Because of disobedience, it releases a curse upon the children of Israel. We must strive to live holy, for He is a Holy God. We were created in His image and likeness. We created it to bring fame to His name and glory to His heart. For His word says BE holy, for I am holy.

Because it is written, Be Holy, for I am Holy (1 Peters 1:6 KJV).

For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth (Leviticus 11:44 KJV).

Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy (Leviticus 19:2 KJV).

Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the Lord your God (Leviticus 20:7 KJV).

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14)

Therefore the wailing women had to come forth and pray it through because of all destructions upon the earth. They were scattered abroad and the sword killed some. My God, my God! Jeremiah realized something had to be done, so he called forth the women who knew how to pray and reach the heavens to get God’s attention. It is important to have a relationship with the Father. I thank God that even when Jeremiah wanted to throw in the towel, God threw it back at him. God would not allow him to walk away and give up. If Jeremiah had walked away and turned his back on the people of God, I would hate to imagine what would become of them.

I am so grateful when I think about the many times I wanted to walk away, give up, and throw in the towel, God saw fit to have people pray me through. God did not leave me on the side of the road, but they came to this Samaritan’s rescue. He looked after me until my wounds were healed. Thank God for Jesus, who knows what’s best for us. Everybody needs someone in their circle who will tell them the truth regardless of whether it’s hurtful. Who’s going to pray and be that mediator between them and God. The devil comes like a roaring lion seeking whom he may kill and destroy.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. (1 Peters 5:8-9 KJV).

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10 KJV).

Submit yourself therefore to God, Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7 KJV).

God told Jeremiah to stop praying for these people. He said that He was not listening and turned a death ear to their prayers. God said their stupidity of idols worshipping and breaking the covenant He made with their forefathers had caused Him to punish them for their sins. The Lord asked a question in Chapter 11:15. He said, what am I to do with you knowing that you only come to the temple as a ritual practice and your heart is far from worshiping me?

God sees and knows if we’re going to repent fully or plan to play manipulating games to make it seem as if we are remorseful for the sins we commit.

I thank God for people like prophet Jeremiah and the wailing women who prayed the children of Israel deliverance.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all uprightness (1 John 1:9 KJV).

But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil (2 Thessalonians 3;3 KJV).

Lord God, you are our Rauch – Elohim the Breath, the Wind that breaths into our nostrils. We come to you saying sorry and forgive us for all sins and shortcomings against you.  May we continue to learn how to be faithful unto the Father who has created us. I thank you that we can learn from the children of Israel that it is better to obey God and walk in Holiness. Forgive us as we forgive others and learn not to harbor bitterness, pride, jealousy, murdering people with hurtful words. Teach us, Lord, how to look and sound just like You. Lord, we even want to smell like You Abba God. Arise Shine let the Glory of the Lord be upon us, for we are what the Word says we are, we do have what the Word says we have, for we are committed to bringing fame to Your name and Glory to your heart.

But now is made manifested, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of everlasting God, made know to all nation for the obedience of faith (Romans 16:26 KJV).

Lord, may your Light forever shine among darkness. May you continue to be that Light unto my path and a lamp unto my feet in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
