King David wrote some of the Book of Psalms. He thanked the Lord for answering his prayers when he was in distress.

Psalms 18:2-6 says, “2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. 3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so, shall I be saved from my enemies. 4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. 5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. 6 In my distress I called upon the Lord and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.”

Many books King David wrote gave God the Glory. He realized that if it had not been for God, he would have never had the strength to fight off the bears and lions when he was attending to the field or Goliath, the giant Philistine who was tormenting the children of Israel to come fight. The Bible lets us know that King David was a man after God’s own heart. He loved God so much as a young boy. Before he became King, he learned how to trust and depend on God no matter what obstacles came his way. His faith and trust were in the power of the almighty God. He knew that Jehovah Shammah would never leave nor forsake him. The Book of Psalms alone is so powerful. King David pours out his heart of supplication and gratitude to ABBA Father God, thanking Him for all He had done for him. The Bible also lets us know that when he got in trouble, he went to the threshing floor and began to cry out loud to the Lord and the Lord heard and answered his cries.

As King David bowed before the Lord, heaven came down and darkness was under his feet. No matter what type of darkness we are facing within this world, God has the power to deliver us from it all. Satan may send his amps. But God! The Power of God can deliver us from every demonic force that tries to destroy us: the lust of the eye, pride of life, fear, rejection, murder, hatred, suicidal thoughts, witchcraft, and the occult.

Romans 16:20 (NKJV): 20 And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Satan may have an army of imps and demonic forces with him because they were kicked out of heaven and released on this earth to try to destroy God’s people. Satan’s game is to break your spirit and your faith. He doesn’t want you to grow in godliness and know that you are God’s workmanship, ambassador, and handyman. So trust in God for His protection. Call on Jesus and he will answer your prayers.

We can look at the life of King Saul.

1 Samuel 16:1,13-15 says, “1 And the Lord said unto Samuel, how long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons. 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him during his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So, Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.14 But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him. 15 And Saul’s servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.”

These verses show us how important it is to have a relationship with God and not take matters into our own hands. Samuel gave King Saul instructions to follow by God, and he was told to kill his enemies and spare no one. Instead, King Saul was disobedient to the Prophet of God. As a result, a demonic spirit came upon him and he manifested jealousy and hatred. So those spirits led him to lose his kingship. When the evil spirits came upon Saul, he was troubled. David had the skills to play the harp and was called to soothe the King.

1 Samuel 18:10-12 says, “And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand. 11 And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice. 12 And Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with him, and was departed from Saul.”

I can speak more on King Saul, but I wanted to just focus on how important it is for us to learn how to call on the name of the Lord and have a relationship with him. Have faith in God and trust Him always to answer your prayers. Satan can’t do anything to us without God’s consent. He must always ask God first can he touch us.

Job 1: 1, 6-12 says, “There was a man in the land of Us, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. 6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them. 7 And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. 8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? 9 Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?10 Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. 12 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So, Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.”

Our Abba Father God has an army that ranks higher than any of Satan (Lucifer) or his imps. God is all-powerful, all-knowing and there is no one like our God. When Prophet Elisha was in distress, the people that was with him begin to fear. The Prophet made a phone call to Jesus and he said the following in 2 Kings 6:16-18, “16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 18 And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the Lord, and said, smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.”

God has also given us the power to rout out every demon. He says,”Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and overall the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. (Luke 10:19 KJV).”

Stay close to the cross. Satan is defeated and death has no sting.

1 Corinthians 15: 55 says, “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”

Job 13:15 says, “15 Though he slays me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.”

Call upon the Lord and know that He will answer your prayers. He may not come when you want him, but he will come on time. The Lord will see you through all of your fears and your flaws. Never give up on God. He really loves us and has our best interests at heart.

When I was a little girl, my great grandmother Lizzie Darby told me, “Call on him, baby. He will answer you.” So when the enemy tried to hold me down and kill me, it was my grandmother’s words in my head instructing me on what to do. I called on Jesus three times, and the devil let me go.

I am so grateful for Jesus and the Leaders He had placed in my life:

  • Apostle Michael & Prophetess Woodham from St. Michael Hope Ministry in Bennettsville, SC

  • Word of Life in Bennettsville, SC
  • First Lady Mary Dease and the late Apostle Ervin Dease from Solid Rock Holiness Church in Bennettsville, SC.

May the Grace of God Always Keep You Calling and depending on Jesus. For it is His Blood that shall deliver us from it all.
